♥ memorial day weekend ♥

good morning.
this weekend in the US, we will be celebrating Memorial Day.

for those that have lost their lives in protecting our freedom in this war or previous wars, i thank you with all my heart for your service, protection and honor, there are truly no words.
for the troops abroad, continuing to fight for our freedom and the freedom of those abroad, i thank you with all my heart for enduring every day, protecting us every day, for every hour of training and time away from your personal loved ones.
for the families that endure the deployments, endure the fear they have for their loved one's safety, i thank you with all my heart.
may God bless you, your families and always keep you!

♥end-of-the-year teacher thank yous♥

good morning.

are your kids out of school yet?  my kids have ONE week, can't wait.  i love this time of year, it's like Christmas for me, i anticipate this time of year with my babes.  we can sit around doing nothing and i love it or camp our guts out and i am in heaven, it's just so fun, beautiful trees, water, hikes, kayaking, swimming, smiles, icecream.....sigh, i can't wait♥

so, in preparing for the last week, i am creating some "thank you" end-of-the-year teacher's gifts for my kids' teachers and for hubby's staff.  today, i would like to share the gifts i am creating for my kids' personal teachers.

this year i decided to create boxed monogram notecard sets and a card for each of their teachers.  i chose to use the Indie Chic Saffron line because all of their teachers this year love pinks, greys and oranges yay!

♥ sketchy love-mme nostalgia ♥

good morning.  today over on the MME blog, we are posting the monthly card and layout sketches and interpretations from some of the designers.  these are such fun sketches this month and i hope you'll find time to create and link us up.

here is the card sketch for the month
(gorgeous card sketch by Anam)

i absolutely fell in love with the floral/sentiment block in this sketch and wanted that block to be the focal on my card. instead of creating flowers i really wanted to create half-pie charts with the gorgeous papers from the MME Nostalgia line and accentuate them with a fun 3-D sentiment. the Nostalgia line has such an amazing vintage feel, i am in love. this sketch is so fun and versatile and i have so many ideas for it, so don’t be surprised to see it again soon.

you are such a happy spark of life card

i love the brads from the Indie Chic line and found this a cute one as-is for my flag, yay!  also the buttons made for a perfect "girly" golf ball....giggle, i like to think of this card as a "vacation" golf scene

i created the computer sentiment using "another typewriter" font and used my new PTI script alphabet dies to spell "golf"

i hope you will join us for the new challenge.

♥ MME designer tape love ♥

good morning.  how are you?  do you have crafty plans this weekend?  i am going to try to finish up some projects but i am also going to take some mommy time for my babes.  before i go out to play with them in the sunshine, i wanted to share my project this week over at the MME blog.

our friday post features projects selected by Jana, Anam and myself from our Pinterest MME Inspiring Pages & Cards page.

i chose this card from the incredibly talented Tracie Claiborne

i absolutely LOVE her gorgeous palette and design.  i love that you could use this design over and over with the gorgeous patterns in all of the MME lines, with MME scraps or the brand new MME Indie Chic Designer tape.

i chose to create my version using the new tapes i received.  these are so beautiful, have beautiful patterns and adhere beautifully to a piece of cardstock.

here is the designer tape i decided to use for this card

your smile makes life sweet card

i began my card by cutting a piece of white cardstock 3 x 5".  i then began applying the strips of tape on a diagonal.  when i was finished applying the strips, i turned the card over and cut off the excess tape.  i ran my card front through my sewing machine with different stitches on the tapes.

embellishing the card was easy since the new Ginger layered stickers make it easy to dress up any card.

i then tied twine through the Ginger buttons (direction) and adhered them to the card front

i then adhered the card front to a card base.  this design could be used over and over with designer/washi tapes or scraps of papers you can not bring your heart to throw out.

thank you Tracie for the gorgeous inspiration.  please make sure to check out her blog, but only when you have time to look around, it's incredible.

thank you for visiting me.  to see all the other featured layouts and layouts, please visit the MME Pinterest-Inspired post

have a GREAT weekend!

♥ OA sidewalks line and mother's day ♥

 good morning.
today is Sketchy Thursday on the OA Blog and Stacey Kingman created a really fun sketch for us to work with.  i thought it would be fun to create 2 different interpretations of the sketch, two different mother's day cards (which is a couple of days away)

here is her sketch

fun sketch right? i loved that it could easily be adapted to create cards or layouts, the perfect sketch (in my card-making humble opinion...giggle)

mom card
(click pics to enlarge)

on my first card, i rotated the sketch 90 degrees and created three small stitched panels at the bottom

on my second card, i decided to stitch a block of different size argyle pieces as the three blocks and added the sun.

 mother's day card

i hope you'll stop by the OA blog to see what Stacey has created and upload to our Flickr Gallery when you have finished your interpretation of the sketch.

also, today is day #4 of my gdt posts over at the Jillibean Soup Card Kitchen.  here are two sneak of the cards that are up today on their blog.

i hope you will stop by to see the rest of these two cards and check out the amazing designer gallery

thank you for visiting today.
